What is carne asada, and why is it sliced so thinly? How should you eat it, and what drinks pair well with it? Below, we’ll answer each of these questions in turn. We hope you find the information enlightening.

What Is Carne Asada?

Carne Asada is a thinly sliced grilled meat. While it can be seasoned in a variety of different ways, at Surf N Turf Tacos we like to use chili seasoning.

Why Is It Sliced So Thinly?

On a practical level, carne asada needs to be sliced thinly because of the way that it’s cooked. It’s only heated for a couple minutes on each side, at an extremely hot temperature. This is important for getting the crispy edges that make people love carne asada, but it means that the meat has to be thin in order to get cooked through.

The historical reason for why carne asada is sliced so thinly is also interesting. Cows used to be much thinner than they are today. This meant that the meat was tougher, and generally unappealing unless it was sliced into thinner pieces.

How Should I Eat Carne Asada?

Because carne asada is such a rich and flavorful meat, it can be eaten in a variety of different ways. While you can eat it by itself, we offer it as part of a number of traditional Mexican dishes, such as tacos, burritos, and even quesadillas.

What Beers Pair Well With Carne Asada?

Carne Asada’s rich flavor makes it an interesting pairing with a variety of different beers. You’ll find that it’s complemented well by dark beers. If you’re looking for more of a contrast, you may be interested in trying it with a pale ale.
